Avon Hearing Monday To Address Budget Plan Upping Taxes By 1.38 Mills
The Avon Board of Finance forum will take place at the Avon Senior Center at 7 p.m.

AVON, CT — Local taxpayers wanting to have a voice in both how their tax dollars are spent and how much they will be paying in taxes are invited to the town's annual budget public hearing Monday.
The Avon Board of Finance will host the hearing on the proposed 2025-26 budget at the Avon Senior Center, 635 W. Avon Road, in the Community Room on Monday, April 7, at 7 p.m.
The hearing will be in a hybrid format, both in-person and virtually via GoToMeeting and public comment will be accepted by both in-person and virtual audiences.

As the budget stands now, the combined town/school spending plans are $118.78 million, a 2.87 percent or $3.31 million increase.
This, the town said, would result in a tax rate increase from 29.66 to 31.04 mills — a 1.38-mill increase.
For a home assessed at $300,000, the new budget, as it is now, would increase the owner's tax bill by $414.
After the hearing, the finance board will fine-tune the spending plan for the annual budget town meeting on May 5 and a budget referendum on May 14, when voters have the final say.
