Avon Pizza Guru Earns National Role In Pizzeria Scene
The owner of a prominent Avon pizzeria was appointed to a key leadership role in a national organization dedicated to the pizza craft.
AVON, CT — A local pizza guru is more than just the owner of a prominent pizzeria in town.
He's now a national figure in a group dedicated to the craft of making fine pies and the recognition of it in professional culinary circles.
E&D Pizza Co. owner Michael Androw was recently named the vice president of the World Pizza Champions team, a nonprofit organization comprising elite pizza professionals.

In this capacity, Androw will support the community via educational outreach and events, as the team "advocates for pizza-making as a respected craft and viable career choice," wrote the organization in a recent announcement.
Androw's E&D Pizza Co., located at 200 W. Main St., Avon, is a family-owned establishment founded in 2014. It is named for Androw's two sons, Enzo and Dario Androw, who love a good slice.

According to the pizza organization, E&D has a variety of characteristics that make Androw's pies tempting to the palate, such as a special type of thick-cut pepperoni.
But Androw is more than just a guy who throws dough in the air, dumps sauce and cheese on it, then slides it into an oven.
To Androw and the World Pizza Champions team, making pizza is an art form on the culinary scene and those who make them are like a patissier is to pastries or a saucier is to sauces.
While there's no fancy name for Androw's craft — yet — some might could call him the "Swami of the Slice," the "Purveyor of Pepperoni," and the "Guru of Gooey Cheese."
When not baking fine pizza pies, Androw serves his community on the board of directors for the Avon Chamber of Commerce and the town's economic development commission.
In addition to his appointment as vice president, Androw has played a role in supporting The World Pizza Organization's book entitled "The Pursuit of Pizza: Recipes from the World Pizza Champions."
It showcases the culinary expertise of its members, with Androw contributing his recipe, "The Positano."
"The World Pizza Champions are thrilled to welcome Michael Androw as our vice president," said Nick Bogacz, president of the World Pizza Champions team. "Michael's dedication to quality, community, and innovation aligns perfectly with our organization's values. We look forward to working together to continue elevating the pizza industry."
Androw said his appointment is a cherished role in the pizza community.
"I am deeply honored to have been chosen for the role of vice president within the World Pizza Champions team," said Androw.
"This appointment represents not only a personal milestone but also an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. I aim to leverage our platform to benefit communities both nationally and locally, fostering positive change and making a lasting impact."
