Avon Theater Group Seeks Funny Stories About Family Gatherings
Avon's 'Playhouse 44' group is looking for participants in its second storytelling event in April, the topic being family gatherings.

AVON, CT — A local theater group's storytelling event last fall was so successful, it is planning another event for the spring.
But for that to happen, it needs storytellers ... and that could include you.

Last October, Playhouse 44 hosted an event called "It's Only a Job," which focused on true stories about work — "funny things, horrid things, crazy things, surprising things, embarrassing things."
Now, a second storytelling night has been scheduled for Wednesday night, April 30, at 7 p.m., at the Avon Congregational Church.

The new topic is "Relatively Speaking: The Fun and Folly of Family Gatherings."
Playhouse 44, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit performing arts group, is looking for new storytellers to share true five-minute tales of good, bad, happy, or sad regarding a wild or surprising family get-together. (reunions, holidays, special events)
Those selected will be asked to commit to studying NPR's "Moth Radio Hour" via YouTube to become familiar with the style.
It will also be a charitable event at Playhouse 44 will collect nonperishable foods and toiletries at the event to donate to Gifts of Love to help individuals and families in need.
To be considered, send a short overview of the story (two or three sentences), along with an indication of prior storytelling or onstage experience, though prior experience is not a requisite. Send it to info@playhouse44.org.
