Avon's Thanksgiving 5K To Have AM Traffic Impacts
The annual Falcon 5K Turkey Trot in Avon will start Thursday morning.
AVON, CT — The annual Falcon 5k Turkey Trot will be run Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, with local police issuing a traffic alert for motorists.
The run is expected to begin at 9 a.m. and finish a little after 10 a.m.
The Avon Police Department said there will be some disruption to traffic in the area of West Avon Road, Scoville Road, Old Farms Road, and Thompson Road during this time.

Participants will start at Thompson Brook School and proceed West to West Avon Road, North to Scoville Road, East on Scoville Road to Fox Den/Sleepy Hollow Road, Southeast on Burnham Road, and back onto Scoville Road before going South on Old Farms Road (runners should be using the paved trail path).
Participants will then travel West on Thompson Road and complete the course at Thompson Brook School.

Roadway Impact
Because of the road race, alternating traffic on West Avon Road between Scoville Road and Thompson Road will be in place until the last participant turns onto Scoville Road (approximately 20 minutes)
Scoville Road will be closed to east and west traffic between Burnham Road and West Avon Road.
Burnham Road will have delays with traffic between Sleep Hollow Road and Scoville Road (approximately 45 minutes).
Old Farms Road will be open.
Thompson Road will be closed to Westbound traffic for the duration of the event (approximately 60 minutes).
Thompson Road will reopen to Eastbound traffic at the same time West Avon Road is completely reopened (approximately 20 minutes).
