Beat The Heat With Avon Cooling Centers This Weekend
The Avon Free Public Library and the Avon Senior Center will be open for residents to cool off as temps rise into the 90s this weekend.

AVON, CT — To help residents beat the heat during this weekend's forecasted extreme temperatures, the town of Avon has designated two buildings as cooling centers.
On Saturday, the Avon Free Public Library will be open as a cooling center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is located at 281 Country Club Road and residents can call the staff at 860-673-9712 with any questions.
On Sunday, the town's cooling center will be at the Avon Senior Center, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The senior center is located at 635 West Avon Road and residents can call the staff at 860-675-4355 with any questions.

Protective face coverings are recommended but not required in both buildings, officials with the town of Avon said.

Temperatures in Avon are expected to reach 97 degrees on Saturday and 95 degrees on Sunday, according to Weather.com, and a weekend heat advisory has been issued for Hartford and Tolland counties.
