Food Insecurity In Farmington Valley Topic Of Special Forum

The event is for folks from Avon, Canton, Simsbury, Farmington, Granby, East Granby, Hartland, New Hartford, Barkhamsted, and Colebrook.

AVON/CANTON, CT — A regional health department located in Canton is hosting a special forum in Avon this week dealing with food insecurity.

The Farmington Valley Health District's "Health in all Policies Summit" for 2026 will take on the issue of food insecurity during a special event in Avon this Wednesday, Jan. 14.

It will take place at the Avon Senior Center in the community room from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The senior center is located at 635 West Avon Road, Avon.

The FVHD is a regional, multi-town health department that serves the towns of Avon, Canton, Simsbury, Farmington, Granby, East Granby, Hartland, New Hartford, Barkhamsted, and Colebrook.

Residents and professionals from those towns are invited to attend.

Wednesday's forum will feature a community panel discussion on food insecurity featuring local experts.

It will also allow community players to work with others from other towns to try and come up with responses to the food insecurity problem.
