Help First Responders Help You with Avon PD's New File for Life Program
The program launches Wednesday at the Avon Senior Center.

The Avon Police Department has launched a new program for senior citizens that will give first responders easier access to medical documents in emergencies.
"The File of Life is a voluntary program designed to help local first responders to quickly obtain, in an emergency, necessary medical history, support needs, and emergency contact information," the police department said in a press release. "The information will help first responders to better assist you in an emergency."
According to the File for Life website, the non-profit profits a magnetic card that the individual can fill out with essential medical information and stick to their refrigerator. File for Life is a national program.
Police officers will be available from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center to sign people up for the program. Call the senior center at 860-675-4355 to register.
