Holiday Closures Announced For Avon Offices, Schools

AVON, CT — The upcoming holiday season has local towns and schools in holiday mode for the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays.

And with both New Year's Day and Christmas falling on a Wednesday this year, the following impacts should be noted in Avon.

Christmas

On Tuesday, Dec. 24, (Christmas Eve), the Avon town offices, senior center, landfill, and public works will close at 12:30 p.m. The Avon Free Public Library will close at 1 p.m.

Then on Wednesday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), all of those Avon offices will be closed.

New Year's Day

On Tuesday, Dec.31st (New Year's Eve), the Avon town offices, senior center, landfill, and public works department will close at 12:30 p.m. The Avon Free Public Library will close at 1 p.m.

Then, on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 (New Year's Day), those same Avon offices will be closed.

Meanwhile, the Avon Food Pantry will be closed the week of Dec. 22, including Tuesday, Dec. 24. It will re-open on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Avon schools have early dismissal on Friday, Dec. 20, with the school system's winter break lasting Dec. 23-Jan. 1, 2025. Classes resume as normal on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.
