Memorial Day In Avon: Annual VFW Parade Will Return

AVON, CT — To mark Memorial Day, the Avon VFW Post 3272 will once again hold its annual parade.

The 77th Anniversary Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 30 at 11 a.m. The VFW is encouraging all veterans to march in it, and community members to attend it.

"We expect a great day and hope for a large turnout," VFW officials said in a news release.

The parade will begin at the Board of Education Annex (34 Simsbury Road) and will head south on Route 10/202 to the intersection of Route 10/202 and Route 44. It will then take a right onto Route 44 (West Main Street), head west, and end at the corner of Route 44 and Ensign Drive at the Town Green.

Following the parade, a ceremony will take place at the Veterans' Memorial on the Town Green.

If it rains, the VFW will hold a smaller ceremony at the Avon Senior Center beginning at 11 a.m.

"Please support us and honor those who gave their lives in the call of duty," VFW officials said in the news release. "We will remember them as well as ALL VETERANS on that day. Public support is very important!"
