Rhino in the children's section at the Avon Free Public Library!
But this one is much more relaxed. "Quiet Moment," a sculpture by New York artist Jane B. Armstrong of a napping rhino, will soon have a nice backdrop painted by Higganum muralist Ted Esselstyn.
"It was bequeathed to us by Peter Anderson who donated the funds to have the mural created," said Kari Ann St. Jean, children and teen services manager at the Avon library.
Anderson, of Avon, funded Esselstyn's other mural in the library near the children's playhouse area. Esselstyn also is the artist who did the murals at the public library in West Hartford.
Until the new mural is added, enjoy the rhino and the more colorful decor in the children's section of the library.
