AVON, CT — A recount Tuesay of last week's town/school budget referendum confirmed the results, despite the close, 11-vote margin.

Town officials said Tuesday afternoon said the recount, conducted Tuesday, reaffirmed the same 924-913 referendum outcome.

"The recount results show there are no changes to the original vote count that took place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the budget referendum," wrote the Town of Avon Tuesay.

The May 14 town/school budget referendum took place at the Avon Senior Center.

With the budget approved and, then, reconfirmed, this paves the way for a tax increase of greater than a mill this summer.

The combined town/school spending plan for 2025-26 is $118.62 million, a 2.73 percent or $3.15 million increase.

This, the town said, would result in a tax rate increase from 29.66 to 30.75 mills — a 1.09-mill increase.

For a home assessed at $300,000, the new budget will increase the owner's tax bill by $327.
