Swing Over To Avon Library For Unique Concert From Yesteryear

The library's 'Sundays at Three' music series returns Feb. 23 with a special concert featuring Big Band music from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

AVON, CT — Toes will be tapping at the Avon Free Public Library this Sunday, Feb. 23, with the return of the library's regular "Sundays at Three" music series.

This Sunday, the library will host the "String of Pearls Big Band" at its 281 Country Club Road location from 3 to 4 p.m.

"Sundays at Three" is sponsored by the Friends of the Avon Library

Free tickets will be given out starting at 2:15 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

Guests will take a musical time machine back to their grandparents and great-grandparents' day.

Since 1980, the String of Pearls Big Band has performed the sounds of Big Band Swing and The Great American Songbook from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

"From Count Basie and Benny Goodman to Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, we’re keeping this wonderful music alive for listeners and dancers of all generations," reads an event announcement.

"Enjoy quality, family-friendly live-performance entertainment with melodies that linger on."
