Two Avon Eateries Honored In Holiday Decorating Contest

AVON, CT — A popular local restaurant also created a very popular holiday storefront display as it was named the 2024 'Avon Shines' holiday storefront decorating contest winner.

The Avon Town Council, which hosts the holiday season tradition, said Monday that the winner of the Avon Shines 2024 Holiday Decorating Project is The North House located at 1 Nod Road.

A close runner-up was Dom's Coffee and Dom's Creamery, located at 20 W. Main St., Avon.

"Congratulations to our winner and runner-up," wrote the Avon Town Council in a statement released Monday.

Town officials said the North House will receive the Avon Shines trophy in the coming days.

The "Avon Shines" campaign for 2024 urged Avon businesses to decorate their storefronts by Dec. 20.

Participants were included on a special map distributed in town that folks used to see the displays of holiday cheer.

Those seeking out the storefronts could vote for their favorite holiday decoration display and decide who would win the coveted "Avon Shines" trophy.

Voting took place through last Friday, Dec. 27.

"Thank you to all of the businesses that participated in this year's project. Your storefronts were beautifully decorated and they each reflected the spirit of the holidays," wrote the Town of Avon.

"Your enthusiasm and interest were very much appreciated. We hope you'll participate again next year.

"We also want to thank the public for their participation," wrote the town. " You shared names of participating businesses with us and ultimately chose the winner through the poll. Thank you for your help in making the holidays bright."
