Berlin PD Partners With DEA On Annual 'Take Back' Initiative
Berlin PD is conducting the annual 'Take Back' Initiative to removed expired and unwanted drugs from houses on Apr. 29.

From Berlin Police: Berlin Police in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Agency is conducting the annual “Take Back” initiative to remove expired and unused prescription drugs from homes on Saturday April 29, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can drop off the unwanted drugs at the upper parking lot of the Berlin Town Hall, 240 Kensington Road.
Last year Berlin’s efforts collected over 200 pounds of expired and unused prescription drugs and we hope to increase this year’s collection. The service is free and anonymous and no questions will be asked. Residents need only drive up the Town Hall driveway to drop the drugs into a curbside box without getting out of their vehicle. The initiative seeks to prevent increased pill abuse, theft and environmental problems. An officer will be on site to answer any question.
This national initiative will provide an opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Unused medicine that is flushed down the drain can result in contamination of groundwater and surface water.
