Berlin PD Welcomes Its Newest K-9 Team

The police dog/handler team recently completed 16 weeks of extensive training.

BERLIN, CT — There's a new police dog team at the Berlin Police Department.

Last week, the Berlin PD officially introduced the newest member of the Berlin K9 Unit, BPD Officer Daniel Bennett and K-9 Jax.

Bennett and Jax graduated Dec. 18 from the Connecticut State Police K9 Training Class after spending 16 weeks intensively training to become a patrol team.

Meanwhile, the BPD thanked a local benefactor for helping the town's police dog program.

"Our K9 Unit is grateful to the generous donations of Kevin Budney, who has continually supported numerous units inside the Berlin Police Department, including the purchase of our K9’s throughout the years and also for the generous donation from the Micacci family, whose donations were used to outfit the Jax’s K9 cruiser with the specialized equipment to keep him safe," wrote the BPD.
