Decision Made on Berlin HS Football Coach Status
In the wake of CIAC rule violations, the school superintendent announced his decision Thursday.

Berlin High School football coach John Capodice is out.
That’s what School Superintendent David Erwin told the New Britain Herald Thursday afternoon.
“[Capodice is] not going to be the football coach moving forward,” Erwin told the newspaper.

The apparent ouster of Capodice comes two weeks after the CIAC Board of Control sanctioned the school and team after the school reported violations of CIAC rules by its football program, stripping the team of all victories this season and banning it from championship play because of the recruitment and use of ineligible players.
The team has been placed on probation, fined $4,000 and banned from post-season play this season. Capodice reportedly recruited four players from New Britain, found housing for one of those player’s family and promised a scholarship would be awarded to another.

“The fact that the program and the kids suffered and the sanctions handed down by the CIAC, we’ve decided to move in a different direction” Erwin told the newspaper.
