Letter To The Editor: One View On Pistol Creek

Cross country coach and teacher hopes area remains passive recreation.

As a long time cross country and track coach in town, I was thrilled to see that the town purchased Pistol Creek and it's wonderful walking trails and wilderness.

It would be a shame to flatten and ruin this natural habitant and it's opportunities that are afforded to more casual exercise. When the middle school began using Pistol Creek for home XC meets we found a safe area that kept the constant flow of traffic from the runners on the course.

While we do need more fields, I would suggest using the open farm land across from the high school because of it's proximity to the school. No need to bus athletes to practice. There is also a large parcel of land, 135 acres for sale on Kensington Rd. that would be centrally located. We also have the land at the former Knights of Columbus building.

Please leave Pistol Creek as a nature center, one area that can be enjoyed by walkers and hikers as well as an area that can be explored.

If you need some ideas on how to utilize Pistol Creek, I would love to sit down and have a discussion.
