Ken was also survived by his loving, caring, life companion, partner, soulmate and best friend of nine years, Julie A. Diorio, of Berlin, whom he shared his love, life and home with. In addition, Ken leaves behind his Aunt Beverly Sikora and his Cousin John Sikora who both now reside in Scottsdale, AZ.

Ken grew up in Berlin. He graduated from Berlin High School class of 1983. At the age of 16 years old, he began working at Walbaums Foodmart where he worked his way up to produce manager and was a very dedicated employee for 30 years. He decided to take some major time off in the last five years of his life to enjoy the outdoors which he so loved. Ken was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, mountain and ice climbing, skydiving and spending time camping in upper New York State with his close friends who called themselves “the Doctor’s Club”.

He loved to travel and spent three months in Nepal and China learning their culture and Tibetan religion that he so loved. His proudest and most joyous achievements were when he climbed to Base Camp Six on Mount Everest and in addition, later summited Mount Cho Oyo in China.

He will be missed by many of his “Heroes Sports and Bar” friends. Some of his closest friends who will dearly miss him include his very first childhood and life-long friend he called his “brother”, George Landry, also included and never forgotten are Barry Cayer, Robert Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Stephen Nims, Jack Nims, Dominic Barone, Kurt Erickson, George Siriotis, Joseph Tirinzoni, Wes Nielsen, Andy Takowski, Jeffrey Laviana and many, many more friends whom he cherished and was always the happiest when he was surrounded by them.

Ken was known for his kindness and generosity, and anyone who knew Ken knew how much he loved playing practical jokes. We will all miss his silly sense of humor. Ken also left behind five cats that he loved and adored. Overall, Ken will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Ken was predeceased by his most beloved and cherished “Dad”, William A. O’Leary, Jr. and his father, Edward J. Bienas Jr.

We are all very saddened by his sudden loss. May he rest in eternal peace.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 P.M. on Sunday, December 13, at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home on 96 Main St., Kensington.
We ask in lieu of flowers that donations in Ken’s name be made to the Connecticut Humane Society
