In Memoriam: Lois Wentland

The Kensington resident passed away Dec. 6 at the age of 94.

Lois (Zimmermann) Wentland, 94, of Kensington, widow of Albert W. Wentland, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Apple Rehab in Old Saybrook.

Born in Rockville, Lois has been a lifelong Kensington resident.

She is a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1938 and the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in Boston. Lois was employed as a dental hygienist for over 40 years, with the Stonington Public Health Department and local area dentists. After retiring, Lois loved to travel and was an avid skier. She was an active member of Kensington Congregational Church, and a few of her church activities included being a Sunday School Teacher and a Girl Scout Leader.

Surviving is a daughter, Jo Ann Wentland of Pawcatuck; a son, Jack Wentland and his wife Pam of East Berlin; several nieces and nephews.

Lois’s family wishes to thank the family caregiver Maria Maziarz for her many years of wonderful care.

Besides her husband Albert, she was predeceased by two brothers, Allen and Robert Zimmermann.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday 11 AM at Kensington Congregational Church, 312 Percival Avenue, Kensington, CT 06037. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kensington Congregational Church or to the CT Humane Society, Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
