2016 Gardening Series at the Bethel Public Library

The library will host it the Bethel Garden Club's Annual Gardening Series beginning March 28.

Spring is in the air—let’s get ready to garden! The Bethel Public Library is pleased to host the Annual Gardening Series sponsored by the Bethel Garden Club. The series begins March 28 with “The Ins and Outs of Self-Watering Containers” presented by Lorraine Ballato, the popular gardening speaker and author who will show us how to turn almost any container into a self-waterer for very little cost and big benefits. On April 4, attend “Secrets of the Cutting Garden” when Julia Cencebaugh Kloth, Coordinator of the Master Gardener Program, offers her expert tips on selecting, growing, and preserving cut flowers for longer lasting arrangements. The series concludes on April 11 with “Ecological Landscaping,” with Larry Birch, a Master Gardener who will explain how to balance our home landscape with the natural environment for a healthier, more beautiful garden.

All three programs are geared toward novice and experienced gardeners alike, are completely free of charge, and run from 6:30 to 7:45 pm at the Bethel Public Library, 189 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel. Registration is required, and attending registrants will be eligible for coupons to the Bethel Garden Club’s May Plant Sale. Register through the Library’s online calendar at www.bethellibrary.org or by calling 203-794-8756 x4. All programs held at the Bethel Public Library are open to the public and meet accessibility requirements for the disabled. Those needing special accommodations should contact the Library at least two weeks prior to the program date.
