To be eligible for an absentee ballot, voters must be physically disabled, ill, absent from the town during all hours of voting, actively serving in the military, scheduled to work at the polls or have religious reasons.
Absentee ballots can be submitted at the Town Clerk’s Office weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Town Clerk’s Office will also be open on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for absentee ballots only.
Starting this year, Connecticut residents can also apply for permanent absentee status, allowing disabled residents to get absentee ballots mailed to them for all the elections they’re eligible to vote in.
To be eligible for permanent status, an elector must file an absentee ballot application with the Town Clerk along with a doctor's certificate stating that they have a permanent disability and are unable to appear in person at their polling place.
There is no official form but a doctor's note on letterhead will satisfy the requirement of the law.
