We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:
- "Not enough police officers."
- "Traffic congestion in downtown Bethel during evening rush hour"
- "Over-speeding. Try observing at the corner of Milwaukee and Putnam Park Rd (before and after school) and you'll know what I'm talking about. If you do, bring ear plugs. Apparently, one has to step on it as soon as the lights turn green. One second late and people will not be shy to honk their horns."
- "The idiots who think Old Hawleyville is I-84."
- "Drivers who think downtown Bethel is I-84"
- "Potholes"
- "Drivers speeding on 58!"
- "On more than one occasion cars have tried to go around me when I stop for people in the crosswalks, especially by Famous!"
- "Texting and driving but specifically on Whittlesey during school drop off / pick up hours when so many cars have kids in tow. Too many drivers are veering over the yellow lines."
