Bethel's Scotty Fund Picnic Needs Volunteers
The annual Bethel town picnic raises funds for families with a child or children who have been affected by cancer.
BETHEL, CT — Organizers of Bethel's annual town picnic are gearing up for another fun-filled event on Sept. 10, 2016 at the Bethel Municipal Center and they are seeking volunteers to make it all possible.
"Come help The SCOTTY Fund celebrate 20 YEARS of providing support to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families at the Annual Town Picnic, taking place on the Bethel Municipal Center front lawn from 11:00- 6:00 on September 10, 2016. Admission is $7.00 per person and includes pony rides, games, face painting, inflatable amusements and more! Delicious food from area restaurants and vendors also available! Hope to see you there!"
The Scotty Fund helps children affected by cancer and was founded by Linda Anderson, in memory of her son who passed away from cancer. They also help Bethel families who may have a parent who has cancer and their child is being affected due to the parent’s treatments. By providing free meals, The SCOTTY Fund helps to take away the work, worry and stress out of cooking so they can care for their child. The meal train dinner services are provided by volunteers who cook and deliver them right to the cancer patient’s home. Financial assistance is given through fundraisers, the biggest being the annual picnic.
