After nearly two years in a spot above Molten Java on Greenwood Avenue, Bethel's Byrd's Books is planning a move down the street in September, according to a release from owner Alice Byrd Hutchinson sent to patrons of the bookstore.
"Although we love our pretty second floor spot in the Victorian and our friends at Molten Java, it became apparent that we need a ground floor location in order to expand," Hutchinson wrote. "We want to bring more titles, more programs and more gift items to you, as we make the store handicap accessible."
Byrd's will re-open at 126 Greenwood Avenue, next to Verizon and English Apothecary.
Hutchinson says Byrd's will offer an expanded section of Connecticut-themed books, including books from local authors, illustrators, poets and publishers. The store will also offer a new section of books on consignment from self-published Connecticut authors, Hutchinson said.
