Calif. Man Arrested for Injuring Microtel Employee, Stealing Beer from Guests

Bethel police charge California man after an alleged disturbance at Microtel.

A California man was arrested at the Microtel in Bethel on Thursday after allegedly trying to steal beer from other guests and injuring an employee.

David Jaramillo, 27, of Palm Ave., National City, Calif., was a guest at Microtel and allegedly became intoxicated and tried to steal beer from other guests, according to police.


When confronted about the attempted theft, Jaramillo caused a disturbance and assaulted a motel employee, causing minor injury, according to reports.

He left the property and was located by police around 3 p.m. a short distance from the scene.

Jaramillo was arraigned Friday and held on charges of assault in the third degree, breach of peace in the second degree and larceny in the sixth degree until his next court date, scheduled for Sept. 20.
