Driver Killed In Crash During Bethel Police Chase: Police
Police attempted to stop the driver in Bethel before the driver crashed in Danbury.

BETHEL, CT — A driver died as a result of injuries suffered after crashing into a tree during a pursuit from Bethel Police, according to Danbury Police. Police say the driver struck a tree on CoalPit Hill Road in Danbury.
A Bethel officer attempted to stop the driver's Toyota Camry near the intersection of Mansfield Street and Fleetwood Avenue early Saturday morningSaturday and the driver refused to stop, according to police. Police say the officer began to pursue the car at a normal rate of speed, but the driver began to accelerate when it approached the Danbury line.

Police say the driver lost control on the wet roadway. A passenger in the Camry was sent to the hospital by ambulance. The names of those involved have not been released pending notification.
