DUI, Larceny, Atop Bethel Police Blotter Beginning Of February

DUI-fueled motor vehicle mishaps and a larceny attempt at the local Target store topped the Bethel Police blotter at the start of February.

BETHEL, CT — DUI-fueled motor vehicle mishaps and a larceny attempt at the local Target store were at the top of the Bethel Police Department arrest log in the beginning of February.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, Bethel officers responded to a report of a possible motor vehicle accident in the area of Taylor Road. After conducting an investigation, police charged a 37-year-old Spruce Trail resident with DUI, and scheduled him to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 15.

Police charged a Henry Street resident with DUI on Feb. 9, after they stopped his vehicle for a moving violation shortly after 11 p.m. in the area of Grassy Plain Street and Sympaug Park Road. The officers also charged the 26-year-old was for failing to drive in the proper lane. The motorist was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 20.

On Feb. 11, at approximately 4:12 p.m., Bethel Police Department officers responded to a complaint regarding an intoxicated person at 205 Greenwood Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 40-year-old Fleetwood Avenue resident seated in the driver's seat of a dark-colored Jeep, according to police. During the investigation, the man became uncooperative, refusing to exit his vehicle or provide identification upon request by the police.

Police arrested the motorist and charged him with DUI and interfering with a police officer. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Bethel Police Department for routine processing and held on a $100 bond. He was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 22 and Feb. 22.

Police nabbed another motorist for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs on February 10, around 7:46 p.m., near Blackman Avenue and Elizabeth Street, according to their report. The 34-year-old Bridgeport resident was also charged with evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane. The motorist was issued a $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 22.

On Feb. 10 at 5:08 p.m., the Bethel Police Department responded to the report of a larceny at the 7 Stony Hill Road Target store. After their investigation, police charged a 41-year-old Monroe woman with fifth-degree larceny. She was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 22.
