Eleanor M. Barabas, 84, Passed Away

Mrs. Barabas passed away on June 11, 2016 of natural causes at Bethel Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Bethel, CT — Our beloved mother, Eleanor M. Barabas, age 84 passed away on June 11, 2016 of natural causes at Bethel Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she was cared for by a loving and kind staff.

She was born on February 7, 1932 in Sharon, PA to Mary (Tucker) and Andrew Mihalcin. She married Joseph S. Barabas on June 3, 1950. They had a wonderful 50 year marriage until Joe's passing in 2000.

She is survived by their six children whom she adored: Mary King (Jim), Joe Barabas (Randa), Eleanor Simons (Bob), Julie Hileman (Bill), Bernard Barabas (Barbara) and Theresa Rogers (Vin).She farmed with her husband while raising their 6 young children.

Once their children were grown, she was employed by Amphenol for over 20 years. She lived in Danbury most of her life and she loved her time with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends at The Jensen Park Community. Her family and friends will always remember her kindness and sweet nature.

She loved her surviving brothers and sisters: Rosie Mihalcin, Kate Verba, Karen Scaglin, Susan Hall, Mary Batronis, Bob Mihalcin, and those that preceded her in death: Stephen Mihalcin, Margaret Barcovitch, Darlene Basista and John Mihalcin."Granny" loved her grandchildren: Jason King (Theresa), Meghan King, Jim King, Kristyn Chaple (Alex), Bobby Simons (Jeni), Jennifer Barabas, Corinne Steinlage (AJ), Joe Simons, Bernie Barabas, Courtney Rogers, Brett Simons and Bryan Barabas (Lucy), and her 6 great grandsons: Sean, Dillon, Beckham, Porter, Tony and Sutton. She also loved her numerous nieces and nephews and all her extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10am on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. Peter Church, Danbury, with the Rev. Gregg Mecca, Pastor, officiating. Burial followed in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
