Engineer Needed to Prioritize Bethel's Water Supply Plan
Bethel Public Utilities Commission puts out request for engineering services.

After the failed referendum on Aquarion Water Company’s proposal to purchase Bethel’s water systems, the town has taken steps to begin repairs on the water infrastructure itself but is looking for assistance prioritizing those steps.
To that end, the Public Utilities Commission issued a request for engineering services to design and implement upgrades to the systems, including construction of a new water storage tank and a replacement South Street pump station, as well as mapping and filing for a diversion permit.
The consultant will also be looking at the rest of the town’s Water Supply Plan to prioritize other needed improvements.
“The Commission is seeking to prioritize the findings of its most recent Water Supply Plan in light of events which have occurred since that plan was written,” the request documents state, stipulating that the project is not “a rewrite or revision of the Water Supply Plan but a prioritization of its elements.”
Interested engineers or firms must submit their proposals to the Bethel Public Works Office by 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
Additional information on the packages is also available in the Public Works Office.
