Hubble Telescope, Sky Lab Tech Aldo Pelillo, 78

Aldo Joseph Pelillo, Sr., age 78, of Bethel, CT died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at The Kent, Kent, CT. He was the husband of Jeanette (Grottolo) Pelillo.

Aldo was born in Mt. Vernon, NY, son of the late Joseph and Eva (Scafa) Pelillo. He served in the National Guard for 6 and a half years and worked for 40 years at Perkin Elmer as a Master Optical Technician, working on projects that included the Hubble Telescope and Sky Lab. He then worked for 5 years at SVG before his retirement.

He was a member of Elk’s Lodge No. 120 in Danbury, was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed gardening.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Aldo Pelillo, Jr. of Pleasanton, CA, and Anthony Pelillo and his wife Brenda of New Milford, CT; a daughter, Eva Pelillo of Bethel; four grandsons, Nicholas, Vincent, Thomas and Joseph Pelillo; two granddaughters, Danielle Shpunt and Deanna Hayghe; two great grandsons, Alex Rocco Pelillo and Thomas Stephen Pelillo; great nephew and godson, Kris Pelillo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Wanda Pelillo; brother, Albert Pelillo; and sisters, Rena Rabasco, Myra Mauriello and Lydia Rabasco.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Bethel, Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. There are no calling hours. The Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel is handling arrangements.
