Korean War Veteran Ed Guman,85, of Bethel, Passed Away
The Bethel man was a Korean War Veteran serving as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army.
BETHEL, CT — Ed Guman,85, of Bethel, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the devoted husband of Evelyn (Griffin) Guman.Ed was born on October 13, 1930 in Atlas, PA and was raised in Yonkers, NY.
Ed was the youngest of 8 children of John and Cecelia Haleman Leczinski, but was raised and adopted by his sister Cecelia Guman and her husband John. He was a resident of Bethel for 36 years. He was a Korean War Veteran serving as a Military Policeman in the US Army. He participated in Operation Ivy at Eniwetok Proving Ground, Marshall Islands and witnessed the Atomic Bomb testing.
On October 20, 1956, Ed married the love of his life, Evelyn Griffin. They met, in 2 weeks were going steady, and in 3 months were engaged. They have been married almost 60 years.Ed was a retired Draftsman but never stopped working. He always had to be busy.

He loved sports and was an avid fan of the NY Giants, the NY Mets and of the UCONN Women's Basketball. He loved to bake and was the family dessert maker of pies and Lintzer Tarts. His passion was having a good time with family and friends, telling jokes and doing magic. He loved to travel especially to Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed going bowling, playing basketball and watching TV game shows. But nothing surpassed the love he had for his family and spending time with them.
In addition to his beloved wife, Evelyn, he is survived by 2 daughters: Joyce Ann Kielkucki and her husband, Ed and granddaughter Tracy Ann Kielkucki of Bethel; and Denise Walsh and her husband Jack and grandchildren John, Christine & Kevin of Brookfield; a sister: (Regina) Clara Pohar, a nephew Mark Pohar and his wife, Kerry and family of Briarcliff Manor, NY; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters: Anne Leczinski, Cecelia Guman, Marie Shuck Kembel, Eleanor Butsko, and brothers Walter Leczinski and John Leczinski.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. Burial will follow in Prince of Peace Cemetery, Brookfield.
