Longtime Town of Bethel Employee Promoted to Town Planner

The new Town Planner is a member of the CT Chapter of the American Planning Association and of the Connecticut Association of Wetlands.

BETHEL, CT — The Town of Bethel announced Monday that Elizabeth "Beth" Cavagna has been appointed to the position of Town Planner, effective immediately. Cavagna’s promotion fills the vacancy left by the recent departure of Steven Palmer, the town’s former planner, the First Selectman said in a release.

Cavagna has been employed by the town for 16 years and has served as a long-time employee of the land use department, has served as an inland wetlands officer, aquifer protection agent and has supervised the activities of the town’s zoning officer.

""She brings a wealth of experience to her new position," the First Selectman said. "She has been a key contributor and leader in many important land use projects, including Bethel Forward, the town’s Transit Oriented Development plan, the 2007 Plan of Conservation and Development and the 2007 Route 6 Corridor Plan."
