Machete Wielding Woman Threatens to Kill, Slices Up Vehicle: Police

The woman apparently became enraged and began swinging a machete around at her Bethel home.

Bethel, CT — Bethel Police said they arrested a woman on June 19 after she threatened to kill someone with a machete, according to a police report.

Police were called to 263 Greenwood Avenue at around 2 a.m. on Sunday after reports of a disturbance. Google maps shows the location to be the new development near Burger King.

Maria Medina, 49, of Bethel, was fighting with someone in front of her home and threatened to kill the victim, grabbing a machete from the trunk of a car, police said. Medina began swinging the weapon which damaged the interior and exterior of the vehicle.

Medina was arrested and charged with breach of peace, criminal mischief in the first degree, assault in the third degree, threatening and attempt to commit assault in the first degree.

She was held on $1,000 bond and was arraigned in Danbury Superior Court on June 20, 2016. She is next due in court for a pre-trial hearing on July 20, 2016.
