Police: Bethel Man Clocked at 81 MPH in a 25 MPH Zone

Police arrested the man, who they say was speeding on a Bethel street under the influence and without a license.

A Bethel man was driving nearly 60 mph over the speed limit while under the influence and without a license "from any state," according to a report released earlier this week by the Bethel Police Department.

Police arrested the man, Vital Bartolo, 35, after they clocked him driving 81 mph down a 25-mph section of Grassy Plain Street at about 12:30 a.m. on the morning of March 3. Bartolo allegedly failed sobriety tests after police suspected him of driving under the influence. He was charged with speeding, driving without a license and DUI.
