The second payment for the 2012 real estate tax bills were due on Oct. 1 and Bethel property owners have until Friday, Nov. 1 to make the payment before incurring interest penalties.
Starting Nov. 1, an interest charge of 1 percent (from Oct. 1) or $2, whichever is higher, will be added to the bill.
Mailed payments must be postmarked no later than Nov. 1, 2013.
Property owners can pay online by e-check ($2 transaction fee) credit card (3 percent fee), however credit cards will not be accepted in person at the Tax Collector’s Office.
The Tax Collector’s Office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tax Collector Ann Scacco also reminds residents that failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer’s obligation to pay on time.
