Two Arrested Following Distracted Driving Stops in Bethel: Police

The arrests stemmed from the department's Distracted Driving campaign.

BETHEL, CT — Two drivers were arrested Thursday after distracted driving stops in town, according to Bethel police. The arrests stemmed from the department's Distracted Driving campaign.

Lisa Omarra, 38, of Bethel was arrested on Greenwood Avenue at 1:15 p.m. after she was stopped for using a cell phone and found that her license was suspended and her vehicle was unregistered, according to police. She was charged with operating under a suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. She was released on a written promise to appear.

Najim Wisaa, 23, of Monroe was also pulled over at 9:45 a.m. after being seen using a cell phone while driving, and was found to have a suspended driver's license. He was later released on a written promise to appear after police charged him with operating a vehicle while using a cell phone and operating a vehicle under a license suspension.
