Emaciated Dog Receives Emergency Care After ‘Critical Incident’: Woodbridge Regional Animal Control
The animal control is asking for the community's help with medical expenses involving the emergency veterinary care of an emaciated dog.
WOODBRIDGE, CT — The Woodbridge Regional Animal Control is asking for the community’s assistance with medical expenses involving the emergency veterinary care of an emaciated dog.
Officials said the dog is receiving emergency treatment at VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Shelton.
Woodbridge Regional Animal Control responded Monday, Oct. 20, to a “critical incident involving a Cane Corso in need of immediate veterinary intervention,” according to a post on the animal control’s Facebook page.

Officials said that due to the “active nature of this case, further details cannot be released at this time.”
“The dog remains under intensive care at VCA Shoreline,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “The initial 48-hour treatment estimate was $7,000, and following evaluation by the attending veterinarians, it has been determined that the dog will require a minimum of five additional days of hospitalization for recovery and continued treatment.

“We are appealing to the public for assistance in covering these significant veterinary costs.”
