We believe that art can & should be used as a vehicle for “doing good” and to promote meaningful connections between people from different walks of life. A perfect example is The Memory Project whose goal is “to create a kinder world through art in which all youth see themselves in one another regardless of differences in their appearance, culture, religion, or circumstances.”
Led by art teacher Elizabeth Smolinski, over 800 Amity middle & high school students have created portraits as special memories for children in under-resourced communities in 13 countries (Bolivia, Cameroon, the Congo, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone) since 2008. Our support covers the participation costs, over $9,000 thus far.
