Man Charged In Road Rage Incident On Route 69: Woodbridge Police
The man is accused of swinging a baseball bat, hitting two people, and breaking a car window after both vehicles stopped, police said.
WOODBRIDGE, CT — A Waterbury man was arrested in connection with a “road rage incident” on Route 69 in Woodbridge on Monday afternoon, according to police.
Woodbridge, New Haven and Connecticut State police were alerted around 1:30 p.m. on May 8 to reports of a fight-in-progress involving multiple people on Route 69 near the New Haven city line, according to Woodbridge Police Chief Frank Cappiello.
Cappiello said arriving officers determined that the occupants of Jaime Aponte’s vehicle and another vehicle, both of which were traveling south on Route 69, had become “embroiled in a road rage incident.”

Both vehicles then stopped, and their dispute continued onto the roadway, at which point Aponte is accused of “swinging a baseball bat, striking two occupants and breaking a car window before complying with police orders to drop the bat,” according to Cappiello.
Aponte, 43, was taken into custody and arrested at the scene. He was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, and one count each of risk of injury to a child and second-degree criminal mischief.
