BETHAN Y, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) Herbert David Goclowski, 60, of Bethany, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022 after a short battle with Lymphoma.Herbert was born on April 4, 1962 to Charles F. Goclowski Sr. and Audrey K. (Hennessy) Goclowski in New Haven.

After graduating from Amity Regional High School in 1980, he went on to receive a certificate in Electro-Mechanical Design and Drafting at Porter and Chester Institute.

He spent most of his career as a Senior Electro-Mechanical Draftsman at HID Corporation and as a Software Test Technician at Pitney Bowes. Most recently, he worked as a custodian for Southern Connecticut State University.

Herb’s family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was beyond proud of his daughters, Julia and Katie, and did everything he could to support them. He missed his three angel sons, Charles, William, and Joseph, endlessly.

Herb was a passionate gardener and helped his daughter, Julia, with her garden every Spring. He could often be found looking for arrowheads or attending concerts in his free time. He supported the Red Sox unconditionally, even though he had serious concerns about their pitching this year.

A lifelong Yale Hockey fan, he began cheering for Cornell when his daughter, Katie, began attending school there; at Cornell vs. Yale games, he did his best to remain impartial.

Herb grew up spending summers on Long Lake in Maine. He continued this tradition with his daughters on the neighboring Brandy Pond, and they plan to continue it with their families.

He will be remembered for his love of beer, history, nature, and music.

Some of his favorite artists were: The Decemberists, Chris Stapleton, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Herb knew the best way to listen to music was with the windows down and the radio on full volume.

Anyone who knew Herb knew that he was the most loving father, brother, and son a family could ask for. Herb was predeceased by his parents Charles Sr. and Audrey (Hennessy) Goclowski, his brother Charles Goclowski Jr, and his beloved sons Charles, William, and Joseph Goclowski.

He is survived by his daughters, Julia (Christopher) Caouette and Katie Goclowski, his favorite child and fur son, Odie, his sister, Barbara (Joseph) Pandolfi, cousin, Mary (Patty) Drury, and his sister-in-law, Eileen Goclowski.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in his name to the Connecticut Food Bank or Yale Children’s Diabetes Program. Without fail, Herb supported these organizations that were close to his heart each year.

Calling hours will be Saturday, June 25 from 9:00 am until 10:30am at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, followed by an 11:00 am mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 81 Center Road, Woodbridge and burial at East Side Cemetery, Woodbridge.
