Woodbridge Man Killed In Route 8 Accident: Police

A Woodbridge man died in a Route 8 crash in Torrington on Thursday afternoon.

WOODBRIDGE, CT — A Woodbridge man was killed in a single-car accident in Torrington on Thursday, according to state police. Barry Zaret, 82, died in the wreck.

Zaret was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 on Route 8 southbound in Torrington at 2:18 p.m. His car left the road prior to exit 44.

Zaret dove on the grassy median, up onto a dirt mound, then took flight and hit the guardrail face of the Wintrop Street overpass, according to police.

His car then collided into the cement wall on Wintrop Street, about 20 feet below Route 8. The car was suspended on a telephone wire, according to police.

Zaret was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
