Why are you seeking this office?
To continue the great work of First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove and his team over the past 12 years and to continue to build on those successes. I want all our children in Branford to improve on their test scores beginning in the Elementary Schools and to give them the best school and athletic facilities to succeed and “Be The Best They Can Be.” My goal is to work with Dr. Tranberg and his talented team of administrators, teachers and para educators to keep our students in the Branford School System.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Bullying in schools as well as the entire Branford community. We are All in this together and need to be accountable for our actions, as well as dealing with consequences for bad behavior. We need to work collaboratively to find meaningful solutions.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
All candidates running bring a wealth of education and experience's, but the difference is my 43 years of involvement and continuous service with all parents and children of all ages in the Branford Community as Director of Parks & Recreation for 32 years. I have been attending Board of Education meetings since 1982 and sports events for 50 years dating back to the mid 70’s.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Listening to each and every parent & student and to work towards solutions to give the best outcomes possible.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
My experience over the past 6 months serving on the Board of Ed with extending the Superintendent's contract, cell phone control with pouches in the schools, and approving the master facilities plan. I also served over the past 10 months as the liaison for the town and Board of Ed as the stakeholder representative for the WIS Field Project which came in on time and under budget. I was also instrumental in raising 75K for the Tally Sepot Memorial along with resident Nick Torello to off set the cost of the stadium seating project at the Branford Hogh School Tennis Courts.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
“To Be The Best I Can Be”!
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am in it for the long run and my strength is bringing the community together on improving the quality of life for All Ages In The Community!
