Branford Police Charge New Haven Teen In Theft Of Porsche Cayenne GTS Out Of A Garage
After a multi-agency investigation into the theft of the high-end vehicle, police charged Deante Hammie 19, with car theft and burglary.

BRANFORD, CT — Branford police say a 19-year-old from New Haven stole a Porsche Cayenne GTS out of a Lomartra Lane garage in May 2024. After a multi-agency investigation into the theft of the high-end vehicle, police said they've charged Deante Hammie with car theft and burglary.
Surveillance footage, forensic analysis, and digital evidence revealed that multiple individuals were involved in the theft, police said on Facebook.
"Through collaboration with the Connecticut State Police, West Haven Police Department, and Stratford Police Department, investigators were able to positively identify Hammie using fingerprint evidence and data extracted from the vehicle’s infotainment system," the department wrote.

Wednesday, Hammie, who was taken into custody by the New Haven Police Department, washeld on a $100,000 bond. He was charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the Third Degree, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
Police said that the investigation "remains active as detectives work to identify additional suspects."
