Branford Police Warn of Evening Traffic Delays on Route 1

Due to a failure of the overhead lighting support system, work is being done on the area of Route One and Route 142 in town. Avoid the area if you can.

Due to a major failure of the cable support system for the overhead control lights at the intersection of Route 1 and Short Beach Road (Route 142) all of the control signal lights have fallen to the ground and are inoperable at this time.

It is anticipated that there will be significant delays in traffic in the area as Connecticut DOT and private contractors attempt to repair the system.

All northbound traffic on Short Beach Road will be closed at the intersection of Maple Street except for local access to Branhaven Shopping Plaza and CVS Pharmacy only.
