• Branford Firefighters Douse Chicken Coop Fire On Cut In Two Island, Part of Thimble Island Archipelago (patch.com) — Branford firefighters quickly knocked down a chicken coop fire on Cut In Two Island in the Thimble Islands, preventing it from spreading and injuring anyone. Crews juggled multiple calls, deployed fire boats from the Branford River and Stony Creek, and confirmed all eight chickens survived. The department is working with Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter to temporarily relocate the birds.

• Connecticut nonprofit donates blankets to senior veterans in Branford (wtnh.com) — Senior veterans in Branford just received new blankets thanks to fellow local veterans and the Shoreline Veterans Corporation’s “Snuggles for Shoreline Seniors” drive. Volunteers delivered seven blankets to veterans at Orchard House Medical Adult Day Care Center, stressing that community support can fill gaps left by formal assistance programs. Residents can donate through the nonprofit’s website.
