Branford's Public Works Department Will Soon Be On The Move
On Rt. 139 since 2011, the town's public works department is moving to East Industrial Rd., its 2-year lease starts Sept. 1: Town documents

BRANFORD, CT — Public works is on the move. Or soon will be.
Beginning Sept. 1, the Branford Public Works Department will have a new home at 30 East Industrial Road.
Given it did not have the option to renew the lease for its longtime home on Rt. 139, the town needed to find another home for the busy department, a site that could accommodate its needs.

At the July 28 Board of Finance meeting, approved the proposed two-year lease agreement for 30 East Industrial Road. The following day, on July 29, the Board of Selectman blessed the deal.
"We appreciate your patience while we’re in the midst of this move," the town wrote on Facebook. "There’s no better town to live and work in, thank you!"

DPW has been in its Rt. 139 location since 2011.
According to town documents, the new DPW home will house vehicles, tools, and equipment as well as its offices. The building, 24,000 (rentable) square feet of light industrial space, is visible from I-95
The first year lease term is $204,000 with monthly $17,000 rent payments. The second year the rent goes up to around $210,000 with payments of $17,500 a month. The town has the option to extend the lease another five years after Aug. 2027.
Brokered by OR&L, the landlord is Richard Michaud, 30–36 East Industrial LLC, based in New Haven.
The lease agreement, runs from September 1 to August 31 of 2027, was signed on July 22 by First Selectman James Cosgrove.
