UPDATE: Funds Raised For Bicyclist Hit By Truck Smashes Goal
A friend of the woman who was seriously injured by a hit and run truck driver in Branford is raising funds to help family pay medical bills.
BRANFORD, CT - Friends of a local woman who was badly injured when she was struck by a hit-and-run truck driver while riding her bike in Branford have started a GoFundMe page to help the family with her medical bills.
It identifies that the woman who was badly injured as 52-year-old Patricia Criscuolo.
The page, which has as its goal of raising $2,000, was has now topped $9,000 as of Sunday morning. The page can be viewed here.

The page was started by Michelle Castellon Melaccio. Here is what she says:
“We are thankful that God spared the life of my friend Trish, who was hit by a truck in a hit and run accident in Branford. They are still looking for the driver. The vehicle was found abandoned.

"Trish is currently in the trauma unit at the hospital. She suffers with a broken neck, back, 11 broken ribs, broken arm, and a shattered pelvis.
"Trish is a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, friend and a proud mom of three boys. She is an avid runner and very passionate about working out at the gym. She is a strong willed person with a huge heart.
"Some of you may know her from public service, helping the less fortunate.
"After multiple surgeries, Trish will need extensive rehab and physical therapy to recover from this horrific accident.
"If you can please reach into your hearts to help with Trish's expenses during her recovery - anything would be greatly appreciated. Please keep her in your prayers."
Separately, Patch has kept in touch with one of her sons, Gary, about how his mom is doing.
Gary Criscuolo told Patch that his mom's surgeries "went very well and the neurosurgeon was very pleased with how it went."
Gary Criscuolo said his mom has been moved from the ICU unit to a regular hospital room.
Branford police have recovered the truck that hit Patricia Criscuolo. They were told by a Hamden woman about the location of the truck this past weekend in a wooded area of Hamden.
They have yet to make an arrest in the case.
