Nurse Caring For His Family & COVID-19 Patients: Patch Hero

BRANFORD, CT —When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Theresa Candela, who nominated her cousin, nurse Michael Tondalo.

What does the nominee do for work?:
Registered Nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Michael is a RN at YNHH. His unit was turned into a COVID-19 positive floor. He’s been working directly with these patients while also caring for his wife, step-daughter and newborn at home. Michael has a heart of gold. He is an excellent nurse who always provides excellent care.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
He is such a good person. Everything he does is wholeheartedly. He’s selfless. He truly loves caring for others.
