Obituary: Dorothy (Dottie) Setaro, 92, of Branford

Dorothy Setaro (Dottie) of Branford passed away on Tuesday October 10, 2023. She is survived by her 3 loving children, John Dendas (Maureen) of Branford, Joseph Dendas (Ina) of Branford, and Bonnie Dendas Pascarella (Steven) of Guilford. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi, Nanu or just Gramma: Anna, Christina, Sean, Brandon, Jamieson, Cailin, Annie, and Alec. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Evan, Sofia, Lina, and Gia. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Dendas Murphy, her brothers Peter, Michael, Charles, and Frank Setaro and her sister Rosemary Cronin.

Dorothy was born in New Haven on September 1, 1931, the daughter of Donato and Mary Genduso Setaro. She loved her family more than anything else, she was very close with all her nieces and nephews. She had many Godchildren and was a devote Roman Catholic. She enjoyed going to Mass and was a very spiritual person. At 61 she started her life all over again and became a realtor and took her background in interior design with her. She loved her clients and became friends with many of them. Dottie was involved in many boards and organizations; she was full of energy; she loved the game of golf. She started the junior golf program at the Pine Orchard Club in Branford. She lived life to the fullest and she loved to travel, going to Florida, California, Hawaii, and to Europe and Italy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 at St. Mary Church of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 8:30-10:00 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford.
