Obituary: Robert "Bob" Michael Powers, Jr., 68, of Branford

Bob, a hard-working family man and avid musician, was known to many as a teacher, mentor, leader and friend.

MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Robert "Bob" Michael Powers, Jr. 68, of Milford, formerly of Branford, CT., beloved husband of 25 years of Terry (Thorne) Powers, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

Born on April 14, 1953, in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Gloria (Santagata) Powers Sr.

Bob grew up in Branford, where he was very active in the music community as a drummer and singer.

He graduated from Branford High School in 1971, the year he and his high school bandmates won "Battle of the Bands," and he went on to rock the Shoreline for decades more.

He was a member of Stony Creek Fife and Drum Corps for 50 years and the founder of the Islanders and Thimble Island Jam bands.

Bob was a hard-working family man and was very involved in the basketball training of his children, Christopher and Mia. He was a teacher, a mentor, a leader and a friend.

His presence was legendary and will leave an everlasting mark.

In addition to his loving wife, Bob is survived by his children, Tina Powers, Rebecca Powers, Robert M. Powers III, Christopher Powers and Mia Powers; his grandchildren, Dejah Walrond, Devin Walrond and Skylah Powers; his brother, John Powers; his nephew and nieces, Jonathon, Jaycee and Jana; and many cousins, extended family members, bandmates and friends.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT.

Friends and family may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Bob's family respectfully asks that all visitors wear a mask.

Interment will be private.
